India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.61%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the gained 0.61%, while the index added 0.49%.

The best performers of the session on the were JSW Steel Ltd (NS:), which rose 4.85% or 40.30 points to trade at 870.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Steel Ltd (NS:) added 4.43% or 6.90 points to end at 162.75 and Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (NS:) was up 4.14% or 142.75 points to 3,588.05 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:), which fell 1.66% or 66.90 points to trade at 3,952.40 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:) declined 1.47% or 55.85 points to end at 3,745.95 and Nestle India Ltd (NS:) was down 1.25% or 32.90 points to 2,589.45.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which rose 4.36% to 162.70, UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.38% to settle at 9,977.35 and NTPC Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.82% to close at 342.05.

The worst performers were Titan Company Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.57% to 3,745.00 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.22% to settle at 2,591.20 and LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.96% to 4,889.00 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1958 to 259 and 26 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 3117 rose and 642 declined, while 144 ended unchanged.

Shares in Tata Steel Ltd (NS:) rose to all time highs; up 4.43% or 6.90 to 162.75. Shares in Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) rose to all time highs; rising 4.36% or 6.80 to 162.70.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.84% to 12.08 a new 3-months low.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.43% or 32.00 to $2,270.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.30% or 0.25 to hit $82.92 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.37% or 0.32 to trade at $86.68 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.01% to 83.39, while EUR/INR fell 0.03% to 89.92.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 104.31.
