At the end of February, it was estimated that the death toll in Gaza had reached 30,000 people in retaliatory attacks stemming from the events of Oct. 7, in which 1,200 Israelis were reportedly killed — the majority of them civilians — in attacks by Hamas. It’s also assumed that the death toll estimate is incomplete, and has most likely grown significantly since then.
